Geocache Description:

A micro paced at the entrance to a historical cemetery that is the resting place foe local soldiers from the Revolutionary war and after.

Located just outside the small, historical Phillips-Knapp Family Cemetary in Thiells, that is the final resting place of several members of the Phillips and Knapp families. These are names that locals may recognize as street and site names.  Please remember this is a place to be reflective and respectful. You do not need to enter the Cemetary gates to find the cache, andnothing needs to be moved or removed or disturbed here.  The families are thought to have come to Rockland County from Greenwich, Connecticut, and were militia men, soldiers, brick makers and river men. The families intermarried repeatedly, so that if you are a Knapp descendant you are likely a Phillips descendant as well!  Enjoy the history.  May I suggest thus cache be done in daylight hours as it is a neighborhood location.
