Geocache Description:

Congrats to GeoKeo for the FTF!

This large mansion has always piqued our interest as we drove by, and finally we decided to do some investigating and got to the bottom of this wonderful historical spot! Titled simply as Cliveden this historical mansion was home to the Chew family for seven generations spanning from the 1760s through the 1970s when it finally was entered into the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Over these hundreds of years revolutionary battles were fought on the grounds, dignitaries like the Marquis de Lafayette stayed at the home and many relevant economic trails, important to both Pennsylvania as well as Delaware and Maryland were blazed by different members of the Chew family.

I could go into greater detail but there is a wonderful blog which highlights much of the history, discusses further ongoing archiving and archival research and most importantly lets you know how you can get a tour!

The cache is a small camo'ed pill bottle that has been carefully concealed at GZ. Cache contents include a log book and even as our recession slides into a true depression, is a fresh big bill for a FTF prize!!!!!
