This trove celebrates all the great folk named Robert, including one of the cache-owners and (sort-of) the Lord this park is named for.
That particular quasi-Robert - Lord Roberts, he was called - wasn't Canadian and isn't so especially widely-known but let us tell you a little about him. He was born in India in 1832, died in 1914, an Anglo-Irish soldier and one of the most successful commanders of the Victorian era. He won a VC and caboodles of other awards. Interestingly, he was one of only two non-Royals to receive a Royal funeral in the 20th century; the other was Sir Winston Churchill.
So please, join us in saluting him and the Roberts of the world.
