Geocache Description:

Private Cache has now been promoted to Captain and is under cover guarding one of our important energy supplies, ensuring the enemy does not get easy access

Private Cache was originally meant to be placed near to Brinsford Lodge which was originally, a Second World War ordnance factory called ROF Paradise. It was officially known as ROF 17 and in January 1960 became WD Featherstone. Most of the factory was underground with living quarters a distance away with many bunkers for the workers, due to many bombing raids targeted on the factory, luckily all raids were unsuccessful.

The site came into existence around 1941 when an armaments factory was built on a Greenfield site to the north of Moseley Old Hall, to manufacture armour piercing shells. Post war 1946-47 it was used to teach various courses to demobilized soldiers to prepare them for life as civilians.

In order to assist Malaya in becoming self-sufficient in teaching staff after independence Brinsford Lodge was offered to the Malaysian government as a Teacher Training College, which commenced in 1955. There were up to 300 students - 150 juniors and 150 seniors – on site at any one time and the last cohort left the college in 1964.

Following this, Brinsford Lodge became the Halls of Residence for Wolverhampton Polytechnic, (1964-1982), providing single-occupancy study/bedrooms for up to 250 students, until more modern halls were built nearer the town centre.

At the moment most of the factory land is being cleared and a third prison in the area, is being constructed on site, therefore Private Cache had to go on manoeuvre because there were too many civilian muggles around.
