I spend a bunch of time running from home to Punderson State Park and I pass this spot on nearly every run. This is hopefully not too easy a cache for our first hide!
Guide Rail vs Guard Rail
This was a debate Hooverz and I had a few weeks ago in Pennsylvania. A Guide Rail is a system designed to guide vehicles back to the roadway and away from potentially hazardous situations. There is a legal distinction between a guide rail and a guard rail. Several types of roadway guide rails exist; all are engineered to guide vehicular traffic on roads or bridges. Such systems include W-beam, box beam, cable, and concrete barrier. Each system is intended to guide vehicles back onto the road as opposed to guard them from going off the road into potential danger.
So, I guess the structure here on the side of the road is a guide rail after all! I do remember a car going off this embankment once which I think is why they put this guide rail up in the first place!
There is parking available at the end of Moss Glen Trail just west of the cache location as well as a pull off near Rt 44 on the south side of Music St. east of the cache location.
Cache is placed with full permission of the Punderson State Park Manager.
**Congratulations to the team of Kodiakwoodsman and green eyed dragonfly on the super quick FTF!!!!**
