BFF Caching Buddies 2katz and KeyResults have been asked repeatedly about how we use GSAK in our geocaching exploits. So, as promised, we decided to gather to share how we use GSAK, with you.

This event covers topics Beyond Da Basics including:

- Advanced cache selection and retrieval
- Advanced sorting and filtering
- Custom stats for your GC.com profile including badges, belts, counties, challenges, etc.
- Using GSAK to help decide where to cache and which caches to go after (Advanced)
- Using GSAK aid caching with groups
- Generating custom GPX files for any device.

Time permitting: we will take some questions and demonstrate some of our favorite “must have” macros and how to keep them up to date.

Internet access to gc.com from your laptop is desirable to fully enjoy all of the goodies avaiilable. WiFi is available at the library and you are encouraged to work along with us.

A couple things:

Space is limited to about 40 persons comfortably. Be sure to log “will attend” only when you are sure you will be there. First come, first served according to log entry! If you find out you cannot come please be sure to indicate that in the log so others may get that seat.

- Basic familiarity with GSAK version 8 is recommended to get the most out of this event.

- We will assume you have found and logged geocaches and understand how it works via Geocaching.com and we will also assume that you have a premium membership. A premium membership is required to use many of the features we’ll show you.
Please watch the referenced video links below to help you prepare your laptop for the event(s) Please ensure, you have GSAK V8, pocket queries and have a few macros (listed below) installed prior to class. This will help maximize our training time, instead of setting up everyone’s computers (a lesson learned from previous gsak events).

Why bother with GSAK?
GSAK Version 8 unleashes incredibly useful tools and functionality that really empower premium members of geocaching.com to new heights.
For instance:
- Did you know that you can draw a line around an area, like George Bush Park, and retrieve all the caches within the lines?
- Want the last 30 logs?
- Want only some of the photos?
- Don't want anything over a 3 difficulty, or anything over a 2.5 terrain either? No problem!
- How about only caches that were found in the past 30 days? or placed this year?
- How about only the caches placed by Muddy Buddies or Family Ryan? Again, no problem.
- How about only the caches with 2 or more FAVs? Sure, you can do that too.
- Did you know that you can custom log 300 finds in about 20 minutes and simultaneously let all your TB inventory "visit" all 300 caches at the same time? You can!
- You can also handle all trackable retrievals, and drops too at the same time with almost no effort at all.
- You can even upload all your geotagged photos to the caches too, almost effortlessly!
- Did you know that GSAK has the ability to generate an optimal route to retrieve a group of urban caches for you in the most efficient manner? With the help of macros, it does.
If you’ve used GSAK before version 8, lots has changed. Please review the videos and come prepared to get acquainted with a much better GSAK than ever before. You’ll like what you see.
