Before the Snow Flies 7 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cornflakes: The last trackable has been removed from the event's inventory, and the snow has started to fly intermittently, so it's time to archive this. Thanks again to everyone who made this the best-attended event in Vermont caching history! See you next year!

Geocache Description:

Saturday, October 13, 2012.  Mills Riverside Park, Jericho

GEOCACHERS of all ages are WELCOME!!! including newbies interested in learning the game, hobby, sport, or obsession?
This year the event has moved to another great park full of caches (including a few new ones).  We hope that the snow will hold off until after the event. As is customary, the current holders of the golden ammo can are your hosts, with DJ & CAL co-hosting and assistance from Zebra Girl.

Coffee and donuts 10 AMish.  We will be there around 10 AM to start coffee and bring a few donuts.  Info on new area caches will be available.

WHERE's The Event?
We have reserved the pavilion at Mills Riverside Park on Route 15 in Jericho. There are portable rest rooms and we will have the electricity turned on in the shelter. There is plenty of parking, a covered bridge, and a stream.
Stop in, have a bite to eat, enjoy the company and meet your fellow cachers.

POTLUCK at Noon on October 13, 2012
We will have a large grill going from 11:30 am on, for anyone to use to cook hotdogs, burgers, steaks or whatever.
Let me know what you can bring so we don't end up with a bunch of the same stuff. As a guideline, here are some suggestions based on last year’s menu, but anything is fine.  Please note that one of our very young cachers has a severe nut allergy (including peanuts and all kinds of tree nuts), so you should not bring anything containing nuts, as he will react from just contact with nuts or someone who has been eating them.

GEO PHOTO CONTEST
Many of you take and post some very interesting photos of your geocaching adventures. Please submit a couple of your favorites.
Awards will be presented for:
·         Best Before Snow Photo
·         Best Snow Photo
Photo must be geocache related. Each cacher may submit 2 photos, 1 photo without snow (fall foliage, beachside cache, group hike, or geodog cooling off in a stream), and 1 photo with snow (anything with snow, frost covered trees, snow angels, cacher in a snow bank, mountaintop winter scene, etc. as long as it is geocache related).
Print them out to bring them with you to the event, and judging will be done at the event.

We will set an area for a TB swap, and print out some sheets for the new caches.

GEO RECOGNITION AWARDS
As we have done in the last 6 years we will be voting on 3 categories.  The categories are:
·         1. Most Devious Hide of the Year (This is just one particular hide that either drove you nuts or was super clever.)
·         2. Puzzler/Series/Challenge (This doesn't necessarily have to be the most prolific puzzler, just the cacher who you thought put out the most fun or ingenious puzzle or interesting series or challenge.)
·         3. All-Star Geocacher (This person exemplifies good sportsmanship, is willing to help others, and does his/her part to promote the positive aspects of geocaching. They will be awarded the Golden Ammo Can.  This award cannot go to the same person twice.)
Past winners of this award are:
DJ and CAL
QSeekers
Roostersting
Zebra Girl
lonestarr and mwein
Cornflakes

PLEASE START VOTING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. JUST SEND YOUR PICKS to Cornflakes:  anne_exler@yahoo.com .
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO VOTE ON EVERY CATEGORY (e.g., some people don't do puzzles and therefore wouldn't have an opinion)

UPDATE 10/14:
Congratulations to this years' winners:
--Most Devious Hide - Winston's Overlook by MaxiVT
--Best Puzzler/Series/Challenge - VT Logo series by DJ and CAL
