One of my favorite series is Doctor Who. I have 'travelled' with The Doctor throughout the years. Spearhead from Space is the first series in the seventh season. The third Doctor, played by John Pertwee in his first appearance as The Doctor, has been exiled to Earth by the Time Lords. At the same time a meteor shower falls upon an English countryside. Among the meteors, a polyhedron is discovered, which is a power unit of the Nestene Consciousness. The Nestene Consciousness has an affinity toward plastic and can animate humanoid figures which will go forth and kill humans.
Another noteworthy fact about this group of episodes is that they were the first Doctor Who episodes shown in color.
