Geocache Description:

The MCPS WEST series invites geocachers to explore the beauty of Monmouth County’s western parks. Sponsored by the Monmouth County Park System (MCPS) these caches are designed to be family-friendly and to encourage people to explore some gems of Monmouth County. There are six caches total in the series (see below). The first five caches contain a hidden question and can be found in any order. Answer the five questions to receive the coordinates for the sixth and final cache. This last cache has stored in it the MCPS WEST buttons to collect.

Clayton Park 101
Clayton Park was purchased from farmer Paul Clayton and his daughter Thelma. Mr. Clayton avoided modern farming methods and worked the fields by hand with his five horses, keeping the landscape and wildlife in peak condition. The area surrounding Clayton Park retains its historic charm with older buildings and rural landscape. Pass through the winding main street of quaint Imlaystown nearby to glimpse an authentic 18th-19th century New Jersey mill village with its narrow roads, closely spaced houses, and old-fashioned landmarks located alongside Imlaystown Lake. Clayton Park has one of the best spring wildflower sites in the Park System and contains approximately 6 miles of rugged, mostly moderate trails.

Cache Summary
Park at the lot off Emily’s Hill Road. Look for the Clayton Park Trail Access sign. Use 173 Emley's Hill Road, Upper Freehold on your GPS to get close to the location.
Trail: Look for a trail on the SW side of the parking lot. It is to the far left as you are looking into the park. The cache is less than .25 miles away
