stlhiker: Archiving this one, it's a neat location, but needs a better placement. Hope everyone enjoyed paddling out here as much as I do.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on a small penisula at Creve Couer Lake. From the cache, you'll have a great view to the south into a bay. Every time I've come here, there have been many egrets in this bay. Sometimes they're fishing, other times they're roosting in trees. Early morning and late evening usually have the most egrets.

There a few reasons I think there so many egrets here. First, there must be good fishing and second, there might be a rookery with nests here. I'll return in the winter once the leaves have fallen and check this out.

I've counted between 10 and 35 egrets on my various visits here. The number of egrets increases dramatically as night falls. Many egrets fly in from foraging to roost here at night. I've attached several pictures of the egrets here.

This cache is hidden in the same manner as Hanging Out at the Lake- GC3T1HT. You're looking for a small bottle wrapped in black electrical tape.

You can hike or paddle to this cache. The bushwhack from the lakeshore isn't too long, but is looks pretty bad. You WILL get your feet wet bushwhacking to the cache.

Kayaking is a great way to get the cache and you might even be able to retrieve it without getting out of the boat.

When you retrieve the cache, try not scare the egrets. You should be able to stay far enough away without scaring them. Remember that you're the one in their home.

Take some pictures while you're there and tell us how many egrets are there in your log. Have fun!
