[RO] Catedrala Mitropolitană din Sibiu, cu hramul Sfânta Treime, este o biserică ortodoxă construită între anii 1902-1906 în orașul Sibiu, pe locul unei biserici grecești din 1797-1799 care a servit până atunci drept catedrală episcopală. A fost ctitorită de mitropolitul Ioan Mețianu și construită după planurile inginerilor arhitecți Virgil Nagy și Joseph Kammer din Budapesta. De la inaugurare și până în prezent edificiul este catedrala Arhiepiscopiei Sibiului și a Mitropoliei Ardealului.
Planul catedralei este inspirit după modelul „Sfintei Sofia” din Constantinopol, distincţia fiind făcută în ceea ce priveşte dimensiunile şi turnurile masive de la intare cu forme specifice arhitecturii ardelene, cu anumite elemente din stilul baroc. Construcţia acesteia a durat doar doi ani de zile.
[EN] The Metropolitan Cathedral in Sibiu is an Orthodox church constructed between 1902 and 1906, on the site of another Greek church from 1797-1799 which served until that time as an Episcopal Church. It was founded by Ioan Metianu and built after the plans of the architects Virgil Nagy and Joseph Kammer from Budapest. From the inauguration of the church and until this very day, this monument is the Archiepiscopacy Cathedral of Sibiu and Metropolitan Church of Transylvania.
The architectural plan of the cathedral is based on that of the Saint Sofia Cathedral from Constantinople, but the difference lies in the great dimensions and massive towers which can be found at the entrance, built in Transylvanian and Baroque style. The construction of the Church lasted only two years.
