During the course of the 2012 Olympic Games held in London, Athletes from the UK stepped up to the mark and won medals of all colours across a wide variety of sports.
The Royal Mail decided to acknowledge the efforts of these men and women by issuing stamps featuring the gold medalists. In addition they decided that they would paint a post box in the home town of each of them. This one is in recognition of Stotfold's very own Victoria Pendleton, an ace on the bicycle.
Victoria Louise Pendleton MBE, (born 24 September 1980) was born in Stotfold and has competed at the highest level, having won 9 world titles. In the 2012 Olympics she won gold in the women's Kierin.
Whilst you are here, you may want to visit GC1R3J8, Pendleton's Cache too. After all it should only take about 50 seconds to cycle there. If you are fit of course!
