Geocache Description:

This is a Letterbox Cache, where not only can you swap swag and trackables, but you can take and leave a stamp of your own in the logbook. The signature stamper is of a small 'Wench' and she has her own special golden stamper pad in the box.
Don't have your own stamp? No worries, there are spares in the cache along with spare stamping pads and paper.

There is now a MUNZEE in the lid of the cache, thanks to the Bussage Bog Hoppers. Munzee is a scavenger hunt game where places have to be found in the 'real world'. Similar to Geocaching but using QR technology, down the app for free! This is a very large cache and accessible for all. All cachers and creatures great and small are welcome.
Although this cache is hidden within a household boundary, the residents are fully aware of its location. Feel free to take the weight off as you examine the cache as there is plenty of outdoor seating. If the residents are home, the kettle may be on too!
There is a resident trackable that remains in the cache, but we hope visitors will discover it and hopefully upload a photograph of their close encounter!

A Brief History of Rank Xerox.
Rank Xerox took over this vast site in Mitcheldean in 1948. The main site was a former brewery and some of these original buildings remain as part of the current MEWS units and can be found in the centre of the village. The Rank Xerox occupation reached its peak in the 1970s when up to 5,000 people were employed. The site had its own bank, shop, Doctor's Surgery, ballroom, restaurant and Social Club . . . . the legend was that you could walk around the factory for a week with just a piece of A4 paper in your hand and no-one would question you! Never did try it myself!!
In 2002 the decline of photocopier manufacturing in the UK saw Ranks (as it was always called) begin to move their business overseas and the R.X. site was re-launched as an independent Business Village. The last copier was manufactured on the site in 2005 with R.X. leaving entirely on 2010.
The once proud Rank Xerox, the largest single employer in the Forest of Dean through the 1970s and 1980s is now beginning to look her age. I have happy memories of pristine paintwork and beautifully manicured gardens.  Rest in Peace, Rank Xerox.   R.I.P  R.X.
