Features:
- Hyak Lake is very remote during summer, privacy will be great here.
- There are some nice meadows surrounding the lake.
Negatives:
- Getting to the lake may prove to be a challenge. I came in from the north and headed west on my way out, both ways involved heavy bushwhacking.
- There is a lot of mud around the lake, the meadows mentioned earlier are growing on a layer of mud.
- There are a ton of bugs here. Bring repellent!
The lake itself is pretty shallow, and mosquitos buzz on its surface. There is a snow shoe trail on the south side of the lake (where the cache is), but the cache would be tricky to access during winter. The cache was placed off the ground for better drainage but is still low. If you find a good route here, please share it on the cache page.
