Besides that, this is a really nice park that we felt needed a cache (well, another cache - wink wink nudge nudge). It has a nice playground that is tucked far away from the street, several ball fields, an ice rink, rec center, and tennis courts.
In fact, it is such a nice park that we thought we'd send you on a stroll around it for our first multi cache. Bring the kids, go on a nice walk, bring some scratch paper and pen to do the math, grab a tweezers for the final, and ENJOY!
Stage 1 is at the posted coordinates (N 44° 44.022 W 093° 18.120)
Look around the sign and count:
# of painted bolt heads = A
# of (trapezoidal) blocks on the top layer = B
# of spelled words in the reflective sign (& doesn't count as a word) = C
Add C to the NORTH coordinates
Subtract ((A+B+2)*2) from the WEST coordinates
So:
D = 22 + C
E = 120 - ((A+B+2)*2)
Go To Stage 2: N 44° 44.D W 093° 18.E
Look at the sign and count:
# of words (look carefully!) = F
# of letters (look carefully!) = G
Add (F+10) to the NORTH coordinates
Subtract (G+14) from the WEST coordinates
So:
H = D + (F+10)
I = E - (G+14)
Go To Stage 3: N 44° 44.H W 093° 18.I
Look at the sign and count:
# of vowels = J
# of consonants = K
Add ((J-1)*4) to the NORTH coordinates
Add ((K+3)*4) to the WEST coordinates
So:
L = H + ((J-1)*4)
M = I + ((K+3)*4)
Go To Stage 4: N 44° 44.L W 093° 18.M
Look up the pole and count the foot pegs on each side:
N = Absolute difference between the # of pegs on one side vs. the other
O = Total # of foot pegs
Subtract (N*2) from the NORTH coordinates
Add (O-12) to the WEST coordinates
So:
P = L - (N*2)
Q = M + (O-12)
Go To Final Stage: N 44° 44.P W 093° 18.Q
