A road less traveled Traditional Cache

This cache is just off an old road, now part of the park, that was the primary route into the Groton Long Point area. It can be reached by a short hike or bike from the parking area for the park.
This road was mentioned to me by a older resident of the area. It was used right up until the 1920's when the new one was laid out and the bridge built. It was just a one lane dirt road that passed through the old farms and eventually down to what is today Mumford Cove. It must have had great views of Palmer Cove and Noank before all the development.
I love this park for hiking and biking, particularly the road as there is one stretch that is washed out and quite rocky for a nice challenge. Other parts of the trails are easier and quite nice to ride on. Views of the coves and Fishers Sound are outstanding.
The cache is located off the old road on a side trail. You will be looking for a camo'ed match container that is just waiting to to be found. Good Luck
