How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This is a puzzle cache with a difference... You'll need to use a QR code reader (a freely available facility on most camera phones, iPod Touch, etc, etc); once to find your way to the first stage (35mm film cannister) and then again in ‘the field’ to find the cache (a small 'clip-lock' box suitable for small swaps and TBs).

Sky’s Wood is a beautiful area of mixed woodland that is one of a number of woodlands interspersed amongst the housing estates in Valley Park and Knightwood Park. Once the cache is found, why not explore the woods a little further (the main path takes you on a circular walk)? The paths are occasionally muddy, so suitable footwear is advisable.

There are one or two single-car 'pull-ins' along Flexford Road near to the first stage for parking, but take great care as the cars ZOOM along this road.

‘Waypoint averaging’ has been used to fix the co-ordinates. Tree cover might mean that the GPSr takes a while to settle on a fix.

Please be sure to log the movement of trackables (TBs) or geocoins (GCs) via geocaching.com. It's also helpful, rather than just say 'TB in' or 'GC out' etc, to add its name (or short description - but not the unique tracking number) in your log.

There is a small prize in the final cache for FTF . Bring your own pen, watch out for muggles and don't forget to take your QR code reading device with you.

Before you set off, scan the following QR code and make a note of the first stage co-ordinates...
