Geocache Description:

A camo'd mayonaise jar with room for small items. This is a fairly easy cache to find for those who want to sample a little bit of the Suncoaster Trail without doing a major hike.

This is a lovely spot that I discovered several years ago. I was cruising around a bend on Highway 101 and, out of the corner of my eye, caught a glimpse of a footbridge in the forest. Upon investigation, this became a favourite lunch spot for Daisy and me. Years later this spot became part of the Suncoaster Trail

Access is from Malaspina Substation Road which turns east off Highway 101, north of the Pender Harbour Golf Course.

From the parking lot, it's an easy wheelchair accessible stroll to the bridge that crosses South Sakinaw Creek. The best strategy is to bring a lunch and enjoy it at the world's biggest picnic table while trying to spy out the cache location. Enjoy!

An information sign just south of the picnic area shows a trail marked “Switchbacks” that follows the steep south bank of the creek upstream, returning to Malaspina Substation Road. At the time of publication this trail has been completely overgrown and cannot be seen, although a “South Sakinaw” sign on a tree shows where it used to be. Use common sense and extreme caution if you decide to wander off this really nice trail.
