Geocache Description:

this is another cache in my "silos series"

The Yongala Silos haven’t been updated to the new automated grain equipment like a lot of the other silos around, it involves someone being up the top of the tower to move the belt driven grain hopper, when the bell is rung, then after they move it the bell is rung again to say hopper is in place and they can resume sending grain up again. The person up the top wears a full face mask and stays up there for most of the day, as it is quite exhausting climbing up and down (100 odd stairs on a 80° (almost vertical) incline.
They also aren't getting much use in the last few years, as there has been a slump in the amount of grain produced in the area, caused by the drought. Also with the changing off owners (ABB to Vitera, and now so to be Glencore (Canadians)) for the last few years this site and many others in the district could be under threat of closing down, and been demolished so no other company can buy and reuse them.
