Geocache Description:

The Rhododendron Trail is approximately 1.5 miles long.  It follows along the side of SR390 from the day use area at the beach down to a small parking lot just south of the park office.  This trail seems to have been forgotten about because of the number of people walking down SR390 instead of taking advantage of the trail.

The trail was just adopted this year by Girl Scout Troop 50772 to help maintain the trail and trash pick up.  The troop does regular walks on the trail wearing tan shirts and vests that say DCNR Volunteer on them.  If you see them tell them Thank You for the job they do.

The cache is approximately 100ft off of the trail and is a lock & lock box big enough for a bunch of small items my daughter placed in it.  She also wrapped the cache in hot pink tape to make it very bright.

Two things I think are unique to this spot are the layers in these rocks and a tree just north of this spot that my daughter likes to climb in.  It looks like 7 trees growing from one.

Enjoy the hike!!!
