Geocache Description:

Congrats to tonymcvay on FTF

These little places needed a purpose, so in honor of my daughter...

Pocahontas, the seventh Disney Princess, first appeared in Pocahontas (1995)

She is voiced by and modeled after Native American actress Irene Bedard. Her singing vocals were performed by Broadway singer Judy Kuhn.

Pocahontas is loosely based on the real-life Native American princess whose name was Matoaka (Pocahontas was her nickname and meant 'Little Mischief'). She is a member of the Powhatan Indian tribe that makes their home in Virginia. She is the 18 year old daughter of Chief Powhatan.

According to legend, Pocahontas changed her name to Rebecca. However, this doesn't occur in any of the Disney films.

Pocahontas is the first Disney Princess to be based on an actual historical figure instead of the traditional fairy tale or folktale (the second being Mulan), and the first to have a human best friend.

She is the only Disney Princess to have a visible tattoo, and one of three to be barefoot.
