Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to a real Giant Redwood Tree in Ontario.
11/17/13 I have moved the cache off of the tree trunk. New coordinates have been updated.

Last month I published "A Redwood in Ontario"  (GC3QF0M)  This cache is located at The Redwood Pet Resort and there's not really a Redwood Tree there.
However, there is a real...honest to goodness...Redwood Tree in Streetsville at this cache location.


Some of you cachers who are as old as the Dancer Man may remember when this building was occupied by The Building Centre.  (I'm pretty sure that's what the name of it was, but if anybody remembers it differently, drop me a line)  The Building Centre provided a lumber yard and building supplies to the community in the days before Home Depot and Rona existed.  As a novelty item, they had a huge section of the trunk of a Giant Redwood trucked in, which they displayed right in front of the store.  I remember there was a plaque on it telling how much lumber could be sawn out of the section. 


The Building Centre is long gone now, but the Giant Redwood  is still there, although nature is beginning to claim it back.  Come and see this big monster while you still can..
