Geocache Description:

Rotary or 'Buckland's' Lookout offers a elevated perspective on the northern side of Charters Towers. This park, which is next to Dalrymple Villla and up the hill from Eventide Nursing Home is complete with picnic tables, art feature, grassy knoll and a car park that shouldn’t be too busy for retiring types.
For interest I've added some pictures of a plinth mounted toposcope (from 1968, in miles!) at this location and a link to the biography of Sir Thomas Buckland.
There is a gate that shuts at 8pm, but we have been up here later for the show day fireworks.
Concrete all the way but people utilising facilities may complicate the retrieval of the cache which is a green eclipse tin and our first hide.
Just a local light key ring (FTF prize), log and pencil fitted in at the start.
FTF to a very quick off the mark Rusty 410.

The magnet is on one of the thinner sides of the container, that needs to be returned closest to the metal bar, thanks.

August 2016 update - there maybe muggles stocking up on pocket monster supplies here.
August 2019 update - the council have a (2 year) plan to add landscaping and disabled access to this lookout.

September 2020 update, The council have scheduled 3 months work at the lookout from 1st October 2020 and the cache will be disabled for a while.

March 2021. Seats and 'toposcope' remain, but the area now has ramp access and a new table. Wheelchair access, now T=1. Rotary Lookout Ramp.
