Wind-in-the-Willows Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BalooCrew: Sorry folks, we are archiving this geocache. Unfortunately, we have to do this because it keeps going missing. We visited the cache this morning and this time it has been completely vandalised and the bits thrown around the site. So thank you to all the visitors to this cache - we hope you enjoyed looking for it

Geocache Description:

A well-hidden 2.5 ml plastic nanocache tube hidden that will require a keen eye to spot. Please handle carefully, and replace it and its natural camofluage exactly as you found it. It contains only a log book so you will need your own pen to sign the log sheet. Tweezers may be helpful. The geocache is located within a stand of large willow trees on public access land alongside the Thorpe Acre Trail

This cache is hidden alongside the Thorpe Acre Trail. The terrain is readilly accessible and very flat, with a tarmac footpath along this part of the Thorpe Acre Trail that connects to a network of other tarmac footpaths running through the nearby housing estates.

The cache, itself, lies within a stand of large willow trees on open, flat grassland (green space) situated between the tarmac footpath and the embankment of the Blackbrook. This can easily be reached by wheelchairs and strollers. However, in wet weather it can be wet underfoot and there may be shallow standing water on the grassland after very heavy rainfall - so be prepared with wellies in wet weather.

There are houses 30-40 m away on the other side of the footpath but these do not overlook the cache site. However, this area is very popular with muggle dog walkers and shoppers walking along the footpath to the nearby shopping centre. So you may need to be stealthy at busy times and ne aware of muggles.

PLEASE TREAT THE CACHE SITE RESPECTFULLY. THERE IS NO NEED TO CLIMB THE TREES AND PLEASE DO NOT DAMAGE THE TREES OR THEIR BARK - YOU JUST NEED TO USE YOUR EYES AND LOOK CLOSELY

PLEASE REHIDE AS YOU FIND THE CACHE AND ENSURE THAT ITS NATURAL CAMOFLAUGE IS CAREFULLY REPLACED TO HIDE IT FROM PLAIN SIGHT

You may also want to take in a number of other nearby caches. Why not have a go at these while visiting this cache, including:

  • Paradise Lost (GC238P5)
  • Manhunt Memories (GC3N523)
