This cache is located on the back side of the Orland Fire Dep't. it contains a log book, and there may be room for some small swag, or travelers. When you come to search, please don't block the roll up doors, as emergency equipment may be leaving the firehouse at any given time. BYOP.
The Orland Volunteer Fire Department was formed back in 1911 after much of the downtown section burned in a devastating fire. Since that time, all members, including the chiefs (and myself) have dedicated our time and efforts to be volunteer firefighters. Most volunteers have a regular full time job on top of being a firefighter. We attend regular trainings, and have medical certifications. The Orland Fire Department building actually houses three separate departments. The Orland city fire department, the Orland rural fire department, and the volunteer fire department consisting of the members, numbering between 45-50. There are a total of 6 engines, 1 ladder truck, 3 water tenders, and 1 rescue truck that are actively in service. There are also a number of antique equipment that are housed on the premises. Department members typically respond to between 500-600 emergency calls a year, most of them being medical calls.
