The Sugar Mill @ Garner's estate is one of about 125 ruins associated with the sugar industry on Nevis. The view across to St Kitts is beautiful and one gets an excellent idea of what landscape was ideal for growing sugar cane. This particular mill is one of only two offset mills (where offset refers to the fact that the crusher was not vertical in the mill building.
Cottle Church is an excellent starting point for this cache. For an effortless walk pass through the Mount Nevis Hotel grounds and for a more challenging walk turn right before the hotel and follow the goat path through the brush (or use one route on the way and the other on the way back). After finding Shaw's Road continue south on Shaw's road until the GPS makes it clear you have to head east if yoiu want to avoid the direct route. BE SURE to check the view as you gain elevation.
The cache container is a plastic bottle with a log book and pencil and is artfully decorated by my 10 year old granddaughter - Solen Sheirbon.
