Geocache Description:

Most Geocaches in Garrett County bring us to a memorable location with a sensational view, dramatic geological feature, or one that indicates a noteworthy event…this cache does not. Located off of Mayhew Inn road in Oakland is the Deep Creek Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant. Anyone who passes en-route to Swallow Falls or Herrington Manor in the warmer months can attest to the “sweetness” in the air. My family and I often pass this area when we go boating on Deep Creek Lake in the summer and are rewarded with the lingering delights that the plant harbors. As you stop to grab this cache just remember that without treatment facilities such as this, the waters of Garrett County that many of us use would not be enjoyable. The inside of the replacement container is covered with Pooh, please be careful.
