The cache (5” x 7” Lock ‘n Lock) is located in a rocky section of the rail bed where the railroad developers had to blast out a corridor through solid rock to keep the tracks reasonably level. Access to the cache is at trail level. No need to climb the walls! Note: Your GPS may struggle between the rock walls and the tree cover.
Official trail head parking lot on Grove St. (.8 mile hike to the cache).
The cache is located on along the SNETT (Southern New England Trunkline Trail) in Franklin, MA. The SNETT is owned by Massachusetts DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation) and is a great place for hiking and mountain biking. It is an old rail bed that runs from Frankilin, MA to Douglas, MA. The trail is relatively undeveloped but there is a lot of potential and interest in developing the trail further. For more information visit franklinbellinghamrailtrail.org.
Stop by the kiosk at Grove St to read learn more history of this section of the trail.
