Celebrate the first day of Autumn with a morning river cleanup on the South Tyger River. The 2012 Tyger River Sweep will be on Saturday, September 22, from 9AM to Noon on the South Tyger River and Berry’s Pond. The meeting point will be at 160 McGill Dr., Duncan, SC 29334. We’ll pick up trash along the roadways flanking the river as well as along the riverbank. Please note that all minors must be accompanied by an adult, and must have a waiver signed by their legal guardian. Make the most of your Saturday morning and help keep our watershed clean!
If you own a canoe or kayak and are an experienced paddler, you are encouraged to bring it and utilize it for a boat-based cleanup that will concurrently take place on Berry’s Pond!
Gloves, bags and other materials will be provided, but as always, feel free to bring your own, too.
This event is open to all, and registration is not required, however, participants that register before September 22 are eligible to receive a t-shirt, hot dog lunch, a voucher for $5 off the 2013 Tame the Tyger River Race and Float registration fee, and a canoe/kayak pass for SJWD Lakes Cooley and Lyman. To register call 596-2993.
Make sure that you mention that you are a geocacher when you register!
***PLEASE list how many you will have in attendance for food preparation purposes!***
Thanks to Palmetto Pride, the SJWD Water District, Tyger River Foundation, Clemson Extension, and Spartanburg Parks for their assistance!
