I used to have a multi-cache from the "Micro Manage This!" series hidden in this park. It served its purpose by bringing many geocachers to one of the most beautiful parks in Brantford. When I archived the multi I decided that I still wanted people to visit this park, so I placed two caches here (Glenhyrst Gardens I and Glenhyrst Gardens II).
The reasons for placing these caches are to increase the number of caches hidden in the Brantford area, to provide cachers with a brief history of the parks they will be visiting, and to give cachers the opportunity to enjoy some of the beautiful parks in "The Best Blooming City" in Ontario! This beautiful property was the former residence of Edmund Lister Cockshutt. The Cockshutt family was one of Brantford's most infuential families - socially, economically and politically. This beautifully landscaped 16-acre park on the banks of the Grand River was bequeathed to the City of Brantford by Edmund Cockshutt in 1957, with his wishes that it be a place for artistic and cultural pursuits. In 1986, the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant was established as a public, non-profit art gallery. THE GLENHYRST ART GALLERY OF BRANT is located in Glenhyrst Gardens, and offers exciting views both indoors and out. HOURS OF OPERATION (open year-round) Tuesday to Friday: 10 - 5 pm Saturday and Sunday: 1 - 5 pm Closed Mondays and Statutory Holidays FREE ADMISSION • WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE There are several parking areas at Glenhyrst Gardens, so parking should not be an issue. Please replace the container as you found it, and use extreme stealth as there are usually a lot of muggles in this area, especially during the summer months. On a more personal note . . . GreenThumb9 and I had our wedding pictures taken in this beautiful park back on August 18, 1990, and this week we will be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary! Please take some time to enjoy your tour of the park. Great stealth is required! Bring your own writing utensil.
