Bitte schützt die Natur und verlasst die befestigten Wege nicht!
English desciption: Here you can admire a special place called "Salzhaff". Please protect the nature and don´t leave the path! One part of the Name „Salzhaff“ is „Haff“. A “Haff” is an inshore water that is departed from the sea. Therefore there is no constant exchange of water. In addition to that you can call the “Haff” as brackish water. Normally in a “Haff” you got some rivers or streams that pour freshwater to the “Haff”. As a result you got a different grade of saltiness in this “Haff” compared to the sea. At this special “Salzhaff” you got less freshwater pouring to the “Haff”. The landscape in the “Haff” is flooded by the salty water from the sea and build salty meadows. Because of backflushing of these salt the concentration of salt in the “Haff” is higher than that of the Baltic sea. The evaporation does the rest for a higher salt concentration. That is the reason why this special “Haff” is called “Salzhaff”. As a result of that you got a large variety of flora and fauna. Very impressive are the different species of birds. Log limitation: 1. at a rough estimation – how wide/ narrow is the embankment you are standing on? 2. What´s the difference between the two water levels of the Salzhaff and the baltic sea? Is there a difference? 3. Wow high is the "Nehrung" over the water-level at your location? 4. In 1872 there was a drastic experiance. What happend near the koordinates and what was the result of these incident? 5. Name two other “Haffs” For point 4. and 5. you can find help in the internet. Please send your answers to me. You can log your visit immediately. If something isn´t correct with the answers I´ll contact you
