A quick cache located close to T.S. Constant (Training Ship Constant), the base for the Tooting and Balham Sea Cadets. The cache is placed so that passing cachers can appreciate the historic, and slightly out of place, anti-aircraft gun outside of T.S. Constant. The cache itself is pretty unique.
To the right of where the cache is hidden, across Mellison Road, is T.S. Constant, housing the local sea cadets. Outside the hut is a static naval gun.
This is a Mk 5 QF (Quick Firing) 12 pounder gun on a High Altitude Mk 9 mounting and has been modified for training purposes. These guns were popular on naval destroyers during World War 2.
There is a plate on the gun which reads "12 Pounder H.A. Mounting Mark IX (Converted P.I.*)".
If you can add any information to the history of the gun, please let me know.
The hut doubles-up as a polling station during local and general elections.
