坂を登りきり、最初の四つ角を左に折れると、大きな山門が見えてきます。恩任寺は大浜（碧南市）の西方寺、高取の専修坊とともに、浄土真宗の“浜ヶ寺”のひとつに数えられています。山門の鬼瓦は厳しい貌で仏を守護する善鬼神の役割をしています。門扉についている梅鉢紋は十二代住職観嶺（かんれい）が菅原家より養子に参られた記念だといわれています。本尊の阿弥陀如来立像は高浜市の文化財に指定されています。本堂は文明１３年（1481）に再建されていて、由緒あるお寺です。
