Geocache Description:

Lewis' Blue Stash - this geocache is a reasonably large cliplock container that is coloured blue on the inside and disguised on the outside!  Please keep the contents blue, if you can! It has a 'partner' Pink Stash cache somewhere else on the campus for you to find. Congratulations to Claxons (first-to-find) and a near-miss FTF for TeddyTheToad!

This hiding place in on the Airthrey Estate, which was purchased by the Haldanes in 1759. Robert Haldane improved the estate, created the loch and landscaped the grounds before selling the estate in 1798 to Sir Robert Abercromby (1740 - 1827) who further developed the estate and the surrounding area. Abercromby discovered an ancient whale's skeleton at Airthrey in 1819 (the seashore had originally run along the base of the Ochil Hills). Sir Robert gifted the skeleton to the Natural History Museum at the University of Edinburgh (now part of the National Museums of Scotland).
