Vaterland Fergen Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Vaterland appear in the sources until 1666, but it may have been construction here before. After a fire in 1653 moved probably part of the city's poor hit, and after the permanent fortifications was begun in the 1660s, it is likely that more people have moved out of town. The wooden houses outside the ramparts offered concern, and in 1682 was governor Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve through that it was only to be set up in wooden Vaterland if the owners had previously built brick within the ramparts. It would prove difficult to implement and it was given permission to build some sailors in the Vaterland.

Repeated fires and masonry ordinance enforcement in the city led to more settled in the Vaterland, again in conflict with the military authorities in the city. During the Great Northern War in 1712, there were fears of a Swedish attack and Commander Peter Jacob Wilster ordered settlement in the Vaterland on fire to ensure the fortress forterreng.
