Geocache Description:

Some info on this beautiful cemetery: The Clifford Public Cemetery property was purchased from James Mathewson on Oct. 1, 1886 and is located north of the town on highway 9, Lot 33, Concession 18 of Howick Township covering an area of 3.25 acres. Early plots had iron fences or hedges around them and each family cared for its own. In 1947 John and Hannah Taylor donated the stone cemetery gates and iron fence (a few years ago the fence was removed). A Chapel was built in 1987 and became a valuable asset. The new section of the cemetery was purchased in 1955 and opened in 1991 giving the Clifford Public Cemetery a total acreage of 6.42. The Clifford & District Horticultural Society built and donated the wonderful stones that grace the entrances of the Clifford Cemetery plus take care of the flower bed behind the Chapel. This is our first family cache, we decided to hide it in the town where mom grew up:) Please walk softly...
