This cache can be found in Calderglen Park. There is parking available in the main car park. The cache container is now a small tin and can be found next to South Bridge which is on the South Trail.
Calderglen Country Park is located on the boundary of the new town of East Kilbride and was officially designated and opened to the public in 1982. Formerly part of the Calderglen and Torrance Country Estates, the park extends along a scenic wooded glen forged out by the Rotten Calder River, a tributary of the River Clyde. It offers visitors a tremendous range of things to see and do. Set around the scenic wooded gorge of the Rotten Calder River, with its leafy glens and spectacular waterfalls as it makes its way to join the River Clyde, the park also includes a Site of Special Scientific Interest with many interesting geological features. The Rotten Calder flows northwards to join the River Clyde near Cambuslang. According to the Rotten Calder Wikipedia page ‘the valley of the Rotten Calder hides many secrets including hermitages, islets, caves, crannies, ancient markings, fountains, fairy wells, countless waterfalls, over 200 nature trails, summerhouses, ruined castles, steep cliffs, etc.... some of the most romantic, rugged and beautiful scenery in Scotland.’
You don't need to go off the trail or climb over any fences to find this cache. The coords may be a bit off due to the tree cover so an extra hint is that the cache can be found on the northeast side of the river. Please let me know if the coords are accurate.
When you are in the area why not try the other nearby caches. If you do them in this order: Surricata Surricata, Escargot, Calder Cache, South Bridge and Torrance Tease you can have a nice round trip from the car park
Please replace exactly as found and bring a pen to sign the log.
