Geocache Description:

ElPolloDiablo - A easy to find geocache near the valley station of castle Riegersburgs lift. --

Das Steirische Vulkanland




The styrian region is formed by ancient vulcanos, most of them just remain as small hills.


Die Riegersburg




The medieval castle is on top of a dormant vulcano. People lived here for 6000 years, the castle is first mentioned 1138 as "Ruotkerspurch" (Castle of Rüdiger).


Der Lift




The castle can be reached by foot passing the medieval fortifications, but since 2003 there is a lift as an alternative. The valley station of the lift has plenty of parking space very close to the cache.


Der Cache




The cache is located very close to a path that connects the lift to the cemetary (and the market place). You have to leave that path at a footpath, and from there its only some steps to that cache - these steps can be muddy depending on weather conditions and a little too steep for a handicapped person.
