Turquoise Top: A Cache for Humid Days Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This is the second in a series of caches created not so much for the hide, but rather for the cache container's lid. They also pay subtle homage to some caches local to my old apartment in Malden, Massachusetts (ex. "SS" RED TOP #3 GC28ZYX). Over the next few months more of these will be placed.

This cache was intended to have been placed a week or so ago, but honestly it was just so disgustingly humid and hot that we decided not to go bushwacking in search of *just* the right spot. Instead we placed this one today, on a cooler and slightly less humid day! As we climbed, taking regular reading to carefully avoid placed caches and comply with the 0.1 mile separation rule we scanned high and low looking for just the right spot. Each nook was just not quite deep enough, each knot-hole too tight and I wanted this one to be a little bit less mundane than the initial one in this series. As we scaled the hill I began to notice small bits of pottery; we were in an area that clearly showed evidence of water drainage and as we ascended the old dishware, glasses, jugs and remnants increased! I absolutely love finding old stuff out in the forest and it seems apparent that we were down hill some from what must have been an old garbage pit well over a hundred years ago! So as you search keep your eyes open for neat stuff like these that we found!

The hide itself ultimately is fairly mundane but was placed *inside* of an antiquity that I spotted exposed near the base of a tree. If you found the first in this series you know exactly what you are looking for! Please be sure to replace the cache in the container to protect it from the elements. Like so many hides deep in the woods and on fairly steep hills the coordinates are bouncy and we welcome and encourage the posting of coordinates that you find. We will take readings in the winter to improve accuracy.

As an FTF prize cache contains one of my favorite TB series, the now-rare Diabetes Tags! Please log it correctly and keep it alive.
