Gletscher sind, laut Lexikon, Eisströme in Hochgebirgen und Polarländern. Sie entstehen aus feinem Schnee, der durch Schmelzen und Wiedergefrieren zusammenbackt. Durch den Druck der eigenen Masse wird aus dem Schnee langsam festes Eis.
Eine wunderbare Möglichkeit, mehr über Gletscher zu erfahren, bietet der Gletscherpfad im Martelltal.
Der Gletscherlehrpfad beginnt am Straßenende in der Nähe der Enzian Hütte und hat, bei einer Wegstrecke von rund 10 km mit einem Höhenunterschied im Aufstieg von fast 600 m, einen ringförmigen Verlauf. Die Wegstrecke wurde in 9 Abschnitte unterteilt; am Ende eines jeden Wegabschnittes wurde ein Rastpunkt eingerichtet. Die Gehzeit für einen einigermaßen geübten Wanderer beträgt unter Berücksichtigung der Aufenthalte an den Beobachtungsstellen zwischen 4 und 5 Stunden. (Quelle: s.u.)

Die Koordinaten weisen auf die Enzianhütte hin. Hier kannst du (kostenpflichtig) parken.
Zum Loggen des Caches sind drei Aufgaben zu erfüllen. Beantworte die Fragen per E-Mail, nicht im Logtext. Bitte warte auf die Logfreigabe.
(1) Welche Gletschertypen gibt es? Nenne mindestens drei.
(2) Besuche die Zufallshütte (1. Etappe). Hier findest du die Schautafel "ABSCHNITTSKOMMANDO ... / COMANDO DI ...". Wie heißt die Überschrift vollständig?
(3) Besuche die Marteller Hütte (7. Etappe). Hier findest du auf der Aussichtsplattform eine Steinplatte, die dir die Namen der umliegenden Berge verrät. Auf welche Berge zeigen die Richtungspfeile nach
(a) Norden
(b) Süden
(c) Osten
(d) Westen?
Freiwillig: Besuche Etappe 5 und mache ein Foto von dir auf der Brücke.
Die Wanderung auf dem Gletscherpfad könnt ihr gut mit dem Besuch der beiden Tradis "Zufallhütte" (GCKG7W) und "Glacier view 2 - Monte Cevedale / Zufallshütte" (GC1AYX1) vebinden.

Glaciers are ice streams in Highlands. They are produced from fine snow, which bakes together by melting and freezing again. Due to the pressure of its own weight, the snow changes its Physical State and becomes solid ice.
The glacier trail in the Martell Valley offers a wonderful way to learn more about glaciers. The educational glacier trail begins at the end of the road close to the Enzian hut, and is a round walk that is around 10 km long and which involves an ascent of almost 600 m. The route has been divided into 9 sections; a resting place has been created at the end of each of these sections. The walk will take a reasonably seasoned walker between 4 and 5 hours, including stops at the observation points (Source: see below).
