Geocache Description:

Cache is a large lock on lock camo box. There is a talking stick, and log book. Lots of room for your swagg so bring it along. There is a overgrown prarie trail that will get you within about 200ft of the cache. Watch your step, this is a popular "dump" spot for old wood. The grass is deep in the summer.

Nobody gets off in this town, trains don't even slow down. Now your humming that song. Your welcome! But trains did stop in Colgan years ago. As you grab the cache turn and look to the notheast. The town that once boasted of 125 people is laid out before you. Check your GPS and you will see the layout of the streets, which have all been taken over by the one faimily who still lives in "town". As late as 1963 the SOO line still had an agent there and trains did stop with postage and passengers. The town boomed in 1920, with a bustling school yard, post office, a country store established by the towns namesake Edward L Colgan, and a lively Lutheran Church. The town began to decline, and nearby Fortuna took on postal service  in Dec of 1974. Now it's just a lonely little town. Not a ghost town, but about as close as you can get. The Colgan depot still exists, it is privately owned and well maintained as a machine shed 3 miles east and a half mile north of town on an old farmstead.
