Geocache Description:

A lovely walk through Grizedale Valley leading either up to Nicky Nook or around the edge. A disguised container, so your own pencil will be needed.

Grizedale is Norse for the valley of the wild pigs. The valley contains many birch and oak trees and gives an indication of what the whole valley might have been like in more ancient times. The gate here indicates the route of the Thirlmere Aqueduct. For more information on the different kinds of gates used to mark the aqueduct route, click http://www.jdscomponents.co.uk/gates/gatetypes.asp You are walking along a public footpath, please note the terrain rating.
