islander1988: Well, this spot is a nice place to visit, and in the past 9 years the cache was found over 600 times. However, it was also muggled multiple times, and unfortunately it was hard to find a good hiding spot near the entrance that was accessible while not being too obvious. I am not able to restore this cache myself in a timely manner, so I have decided to let this one go and open up the area for a new hide by someone else.

Geocache Description:

Two prominent landmarks in Kyiv are Saint Sophia's Cathedral and Saint Michael's Monastery.

Saint Michael's was originally built in the Middle Ages by Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych. The monastery has several sections, but was destroyed in the 1930s by Soviet authorities. After Ukraine's independence, the monastery was reconstructed and officially reopened in 1999.

Near the front entrance to Saint Michael's is a memorial to the Holodomor, the forced famine that occurred in Ukraine under Stalin's rule. From 1932-33 millions of Ukrainians died of starvation as food was removed from the country and Ukrainians were left with nothing to eat.

This cache is hidden in a tree not far from the monument. It used to be in a planter along the steps, located at the 3rd "dip" in the bricks on the east side of the planter, almost against the bricks in the sand. Due to this cache being muggled frequently I had to make it more sneaky: a plastic o-ring nano with fake grass on top. Even this wasn't enough, so it moved to a nearby tree. Please use stealth as this is a high traffic area.
