Geocache Description:

One of several caches set for a local Cub Pack. This is an area of countryside often enjoyed by the Pack, we hope you enjoy it aswell. This cache can be part of a circular walk near Great Missenden or a longer walk on to Wendover.

A beautiful woodland path, in spring it is covered in bluebells, crisscrossed with badger trails. NEAR THE CACHE SITE you can see an old saw pit. This was dug out so that beech trees felled for the furniture trade could be be lain over it. Two man teams would then saw the tree in to the lengths, one man on top of the log, other below in the pit. once ready they would be dragged to the woods edge and loaded on to wagons to start the slow horse drawn journey to the factory. Very near this pit we found a big old horse shoe from one of the hoses that must have been used to pull the felled trees and logs around.  Please do stay to the main path as much as possible, the cache is only a short way off it. THE GPS WILL GET YOU CLOSE, UNDER THE TREES IT JUMPS ABOUT A LOT. The name and description will help narrow it down further, the clue should lead straght to. Have fun.
