Geocache Description:

Park and grab this one as you travel the scenic coast road between Hout Bay and Camps Bay.  Better still, bring a picnic and take some time to admire the view. If you're lucky you'll see whales or dolphins.

Victoria Road with its awesome Twelve Apostles mountain backdrop and sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean was originally laid by Sir Thomas Bain in the 1880s and named in honour of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. This well maintained road, which actually stretches all the way from Bantry Bay to Hout Bay, is a road tripper's delight, much used by commuters and sight-seers as well as a host of energetic runners and cyclists from all over the world including the 36 000 who take part in the renowned cycle tour held in March each year. This is one of the nicest stretches of its route.

The recent upgrade and landscaping of the beautiful lookout located at the given coordinates was made possible by a donation from a social enterprises organisation in memory of Pietro Ferrero who took time off from business meetings on 18th April 2011 for a cycle ride on this scenic route. Passing this point he was seen to fall off his bicycle after suffering an apparent heart attack to be later declared deceased at the scene.  He was 47.  His sudden passing sent shockwaves through his home country Italy and also the business world because he was the CEO of a giant Italian business group, joint head of an internationally famous chocolate empire and heir to Italy's biggest fortune, then valued at around $18bn. A host of celebrities packed into the funeral in the Alba cathedral, including Italian head of state Silvio Berlusconi
