This cache is just south of a prayer garden - a nice quiet area with a view to take a few minutes out of your day - and originally my Eagle Scout project. The garden has been expanded beyond it's original intent, but I've always wanted to place something there acknowledging the efforts of everyone who helped build it originally. Cache placed with the approval of Christ's Church of Flagstaff
(Cache re-placed May2016, sincere apologies for the unacceptably long delay)
A requirement of earning the rank of Eagle Scout is to, "plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project". In the summer of 1995, a group of my friends and family helped me construct the prayer garden just north of this cache, before we were treated to an unforgettable sunset over the nearby, very new, church building, with the San Francisco peaks as a backdrop. Since it was originally built, the church has expanded and the trail to the garden is now short and easy.
This garden, originally designed to accommodate groups varying in size from one to around 20 people, was mostly used by single dedicated individuals who made it their habit to come out for some quiet time each day- for years, you could see just a few places habitually cleared of pine needles where they would sit. Since being expanded and somewhat reimagined fifteen years later, it has gotten much more use. But it remains a peaceful, quiet area with a great view. This geocache is being offered as a way to share a place with you where you take a quiet few minutes out of your day. Enjoy!
I've also taken advantage of the cache in order to list the names of everyone who helped on this project - another small way of saying, "thanks" to them.
