Geocache Description:

This geocache was part of the GeoVenture Challenge: The Survival Test on August 25, 2012. The weekend event was hosted by the Manitoba Geocaching association. Most of the 35 Geocaches placed during this challenge featured a survival type question. An example of that question and the information that inspired that question may be below.

The entire series was designed to be a park and grab power series to be published after the event. Enjoy!

A tip about using a mirror to signal for help.

Signalling for help in an emergency situation is an important technique to know. One method is to use a mirror or shiny object to signal a search plane or vehicle.  A good signal mirror can be seen 15 to 20 miles away!

An important thing to know about using a mirror is that you must aim it properly for maximum effectivenes. Hold the mirror with one hand just below your eyes and extend the opposite hand creating the 'V' sign with two fingers. Put the object you want to signal in the middle of that V and adjust the mirror so that the sunlight or other light source reflects onto the back of your fingers. This should aim the reflected sunlight at the object you are sighting.

Sweep the light across the object three times and then pause before repeating several times. (You don't want to hold the reflected beam on the driver or pilot as you might hurt their vision.)
