The first cache of my Triforce Challenge Series, although it can be found as a stand-alone cache. The series will take you to seven different locations throughout Deep River, Chester, and East Haddam. If you are planning to find the final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower, you will need the information found within it. Do not forget to record the number you find inside this cache!
Power. Wisdom. Courage. These are the three attributes held in perfect balance in the Triforce, the ultimate source of power in the Legend of Zelda video game series and has thus become its most recognized symbol. It recently dawned on me that it could be argued that these three attributes need to be held by geocachers (although sometimes power may need to be replaced with stealth.) For this reason I decided to create a geocaching homage to my favorite of the Zelda series, The Ocarina of Time. The Triforce Challenge contains seven individual caches, the first six of which can be obtained as their own finds. However, like the hero of the Zelda series, Link, you will need the treasure found within each temple to find your way to the seventh and final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower.
If you are deciding to quest through Hyrule in the official order, your first stop is the Temple of Time. Link actually began is adventure as a child, and performed many great tasks before making his way to the Temple of Time. Located on the outskirts of Hyrule Castle Town, the temple stood as a stoic symbol of the Triforce’s power. Here, Link hoped to obtain the Master Sword but the powers at be decided he was not yet ready to be the Hero of Time. Link was sealed within the temple for seven years, during which the evil Ganondorf unleashed his evil powers on the land of Hyrule.
When Link finally awoke from his mystical slumber, he had grown into an adult while the land around him had been overrun by evil. The Sage of Light, Rauru, instructed Link that if he wished to defeat Ganondorf, he would first have to awaken all six sages and have them lend him their power. He then bestowed Link with the Medallion of Light before sending him off to find the other temples where the sages would be awakened.
Cache is located in close proximity to a structure that resembles the Temple of Light. All cache containers in the series are the same size and shape, with a Triforce emblazoned on their lids. Inside, you will find the medallion of the temple, marked with a single piece of the coordinates you will need to obtain the cache at Ganon’s Tower. Enjoy your journey, and may the goddesses watch over you!
