Hoosier_Reviewer: Since there has been no response to my previous note, I am archiving the cache.

While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you for a reasonable amount of time, we cannot do so indefinitely. In light of the lack of communication regarding this geocache, it has been archived to free up the area for new placements. You will not be able to unarchive this listing. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up this geocache or any remaining bits as soon as possible.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a large, camo-taped pill bottle hidden in one of Dearborn County's oldest burial grounds. Access during daylight hours only, and please be respectful of the area!

This cache is located at the original site of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Early names for this area included "Hopewell Ridge" and "Turkey Track"....but for the past 180+ years, it has been known as Dillsboro. Records show that a log church was erected here, on the ridge separating the Hogan and Laughery Creeks, in 1818. Ten years later, the congregation organized and continued to meet at this site until 1841. The earliest burials date to 1826. According to church history, the original log structure had no stove or chimney. Instead, there was a five-foot round flat stone at the center of the room, where hot coals could be placed to provide comfort to the congregation during wintertime services.

Approximately thirty feet due south of the cache, there is a marker commemorating the church's founding.

The cache contains a logbook, pen, and room for several smaller trade items. FTF gets one of my signature tags (for a peek, see my avatar).  There are also other fun items, including a micro geocoin, a mini-bison tube (for placing your own cache), a few collectible pins, and a card good for a free game of bowling. This is the fourth hide in my "At Rest" series, and I am proud to help bring awareness to these historic places where our ancestors worked, worshipped, lived and died. Happy travels to all who seek this cache....and happy caching, as well!
