The "Gunsmoke Series" consists of five caches in honor of five of the prominent characters in the series.
The TV series started on September 10, 1955 which is the date I hope to get these released. The information was gathered from Google, Wikipedia, and other Google sources.
The cache is located within a few feet of the parking spot.
Permission has been given from the County Commissioners for the caches.
Festus Haggen, as played by Ken Curtis (07/02/16 to 04/28/91).
Festus played a stubbornly illiterate hillbilly. He was set apart from the other cowboys of that era by riding his beloved mule "Ruth", that he rode throughout the series. He joined the series as a regular in 1964. He was a reliable sidekick and part time deputy to Matt Dillon that was also the jail custodian. He was on the show for eleven years in 239 episodes. Festus continued on the series until the end in 1975. He was noted for his 'nasally' twangy rural accent which he developed for the roll, but did not depict his real voice. He was a talented singer that sang with the "Sons Of the Pioneers" (1949- 1953). He also sang with the Tommy Dorsey Band, Frank Sinatra and others.
